The consumer version of the Clio V6 was based on the Clio V6 Trophy. The layout with rear-wheel drive and a powerful V6 mid-engine was unique in the compact class. Because the engine was mounted behind the front seats, the rear seats had to be sacrificed and the Clio V6 was a two-seater. The body was greatly modified compared to a standard Clio with widened wheel arches, a modified front bumper with extra air supply, a rear bumper with double exhausts and a roof spoiler. The Clio V6 was therefore 171 mm wider and 30 mm longer than a standard Clio. Track width increased to 96mm at the front and 125mm at the rear. With the strongly modified appearance and the location of the engine, the Clio V6 was seen as the (spiritual) successor to the Renault 5 Turbo.
The V6 engine produced 230 hp (166 kW) and 300 Nm of torque and the Clio V6 was able to accelerate to 100 km/h in 6.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 235 km/h. to achieve. Production took place at TWR's factory in Uddevalla, Sweden. 1,634 units of the first generation were built.
